Wellness and Prevention

“A stitch in time saves nine.” English Proverb
“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” Benjamin Franklin.

These are just a few of the many adages that we all know about prevention. Making choices that prevent hardship in the future is the responsible action to take. In some areas of life, people are very good at following these ideas. For example, financially we understand that saving money now is important for retirement. We know that investing time into work and family life will allow for better relationships and career advancement.

With health we are sadly a bit more hit and miss. Some of us are great at picking the right foods to eat and avoiding the bad ones, knowing as we do that over the long term a diet of junk food and soda is going to lead to health problems.  You may be great at getting physical exercise, knowing that a the stronger and fitter the body is, the better it will hold up against the day to day grinds. Others get regular physicals for early detection of disease, knowing that early detection can save your life. Most of us get regular teeth cleanings to prevent dental disease, knowing that proper dental care is important to health. Some of us get regular chiropractic adjustments to maintain our spines and in turn our nervous systems, knowing that chiropractic adjustments help our nervous systems stay healthy.

As a chiropractor it is this last category that I am interested in. After educating my patients on the benefits of a regular adjustment, most are more then happy to invest their time and money into their spinal health. This not only makes them feel better but they know that they will be stronger and more relaxed, and their body will be equipped to handle their day to day grind.

When was the last time you had your spine checked? What stopped you from getting it done? I hear it on a regular basis from patients that start chiropractic care: “I should have done this years ago!”

Come see us at the Toronto Wellness Centre to get yours spines checked, and start this vital preventative step to achieving wellness!
